Genesis 1-4

The Creation story has much to say about the human condition and the nature of God.

There are so many themes in the first 4 chapters: Creation, God's care and love, sin, obedience, accountability, punishment, selfishness, pride, humility, just to name a few. Our goal is not to identify what each one means, we don't have time for that, nor are we trying to find one overall truth in it, but to see what each passage says about us, God, and our relationship. It's called the theological bible study method. What we are to look for is how this passage affects us, speaks to us and then what it means for the rest of my life of faith.

Study Questions:
What does the Creation Story reveal about God?

What does the story reveal about humans?

What is the power of this story for you?
or What meaning does it have for our lives today?

Genesis 1:26 says that humans have been created in the image of God (with the very nature of God). What does that mean? How are humans like God?
What differentiates us?
Have we lost or destroyed the "image" through rebellion (sin)?

If you have other questions or comments, you are welcome to post them.

That's exactly right! It is our sin that has cut off the image God had originally designed for us. But there is a way to recapture that image...

...know what it is?
